Facilitating enzymatic reactions by using ionic liquids: A mini review

Over the past two decades, ionic liquids (ILs) have been widely used for enzymatic conversions of substrates — especially that are insoluble in common organic solvents and water resulting high conversion rates, selectivity, improved enzyme stability, wherein ILs recoverable recyclable. Compared with performance first-generation ILs, researchers recently considerably technological utility enzymes second- third-generation composed enzyme-benign cations anions. Use upgraded offers further activity stability compared research studies decade, rendering IL-assisted biocatalytic processes more environmentally economically attractive.
